k:SPA, based in the Solent Centre, Parkway, waxed the bodies of over 10 willing victims from NATS staff, the organisation which manages the UK air traffic control services, to help raise money for the charity British Disabled Flying Association, Aerobility.

Lucy Tigwell, Employee Relations Specialist, from NATS, comments: “Our Hair-o-bility event was a huge success and we managed to successfully wax 15 and a half legs and one back. Our boys were all very brave, despite making many strange faces and odd noises throughout their new experience.”

“We’re grateful to Jenny, Jess and the whole k:SPA team for their assistance, and maybe we’ve converted a few men to the pleasures of waxing, or at least shown them the pain we go through!”

Aerobility enables disabled and profoundly ill adults and children to have the ‘experience of a lifetime’, flying a plane, offering flying lessons for as many terminally ill and disabled people as possible each year. This helps individuals begin to learn new life skills and achieve greater wellbeing and independence.

NATS are continuing their fundraising events early in June with a team from the Human Resources Department pulling an aeroplane at Goodward. You can still donate to the Hairobility event at www.justgiving.com/hair-o-bility.
